Important Update: Corded Window Coverings Transition
On June 1, 2024, new standards for corded window coverings will come into effect, marking a significant change in our industry. Many current parts and pieces used in manufacturing and distribution will be banned. We offer a wide range of cordless and motorized alternatives across all product categories to accommodate our customers and consumers. While this transition may pose challenges, we’re committed to supporting you through it.

The WCMA has approved updated safety standards requiring window covering products in the U.S. to be cordless or feature inaccessible or short cords. Over 95% of window covering products sold in the U.S. will need to comply with this standard.

The compliance deadline for all companies involved in manufacturing, distributing, or selling window coverings in the U.S. is June 1, 2024. Beyond this date, all products must adhere to the new standard.

Corded window coverings will still be available as custom-order products using retractable cord or continuous cord loop systems with tension devices, catering to specific consumer needs.

All companies in the window covering industry must comply with the ANSI/WCMA standard to avoid potential legal consequences for non-compliant products.

For any inquiries, please contact your sales manager or customer service. Thank you for your ongoing support of Shade & Light.
