Best Window Treatments for Florida Sun, Heat & Humidity

Why Climate Matters for Window Treatments

Central Florida’s combination of intense sun, heat, and year-round humidity is tougher on window treatments than most parts of the country. Materials that work fine in a dry climate can fade, warp, or break down here. A few of our product lines are especially well-suited to it.

Cutting Heat and UV Glare

Solar Glide Shades use an adjustable fabric panel designed to reduce glare and UV rays while preserving your view outside — a good fit for rooms with heavy afternoon sun. For covered outdoor spaces, Lanai Screens are built from Textilene, a PVC-coated polyester fabric specifically designed to reduce heat transfer and solar glare, and it’s flame- and fade-resistant for long-term outdoor use.

Standing Up to Humidity

Real wood can warp, crack, or swell in humid conditions over time. Avondale Shutters are built from engineered PVC rather than wood, which holds up well in moisture-prone rooms and Florida’s humidity generally. Faux Wood Blinds offer the same advantage in a blinds format — a wood look without the moisture sensitivity, making them a strong choice for bathrooms, kitchens, and other high-humidity spaces.

Certified Materials

Several of our fabric lines — including a number of our Roller Shades fabrics — are available in GreenGuard-certified, fire-resistant, and eco-certified options, so you don’t have to choose between performance and peace of mind.
